Rock Hill Baptist Church History:

The church was started in 1918 but was not organized until 1922.  The first meetings were held in a two-room schoolhouse, and during pleasant weather, Brush Arbor meetings were held outside.

The first pastor was Rev. R.P. Jones, who served from October 27, 1922 to December of 1926, and again from 1928 to 1930.  Rev. J.E. Aldrige served briefly from 1927 to 1928.  After Rev. Jones resigned, Rev. G.C. Seidenspinner served as pastor from 1930 until 1935.  From 1935 until 1941, several pastors served, including: T.E. Reid, Charles C. Prince, and J.H. Wood.  Rev. W.K. Wyatt then served as our pastor from 1941 until his death on November 1, 1959.  He was succeeded by Rev. Edward Brown (1959 – 1965), Rev. S.O. George (1966 – 1972), Rev. Ron Jackson (1972-197?).

The first deacons were N.C. Burgess and H.T. Ayers, and they were joined shortly after in 1926 by J.W West, W.G. Davis, and John Burgess.  Rev. C.E. Chapman was the first preacher ordained by the church (1947) and was later followed by Rev. Edward Brown, Richard Chapman, Ralph Horton, and Luther Bradley.

Music at Rock Hill was first supplied by a pump organ played by Mr. Turner McAbee.  In 1936, the organ was sold and a piano was purchased, which was used until 1967 when another organ was obtained.

In 1947, the church was remodeled and the first parsonage was constructed (completed in 1948).  The present church (now owned by the Slavic Pentacostal Church), was completed in 1951 and renovated in 1977.  A new parsonage and a recreation building was also added in 1977.
