II Timothy 4:2 "Be ready in season and out of season."  In 2003 the opportunity came "in season" for Lake Bowen Baptist Church to minister to our community by providing after school for some local schools.  God had been preparing me personally for many years.  I had earned a degree in Recreation from Carson-Newman College.  I also had fulfill ed 2 personal goals of serving our church as a pastor's wife, and to be a stay-at-home mom.  As Mark ( my husband and pastor) and I watched our children begin to leave our nest and pursue what God had for them, God moved in my heart to use the gifts and talents he had equipped me with to serve Lake Bowen Baptist in the capacity of  After School Director.

The staff of the After School program has set three important goals.  First, we want to provide a place for children and workers where God receives the Glory.  Secondly, we want to see them have the opportunity to play with friends in a safe place and to study.  Last of all we want them to learn about God and His purpose for their lives.

It is my prayer that all who come thru the doors of After School will experience in our staff the love of Jesus Christ and to grow up knowing that He is the real reason that we exist.
